MARRIAGE: do we know exactly what we are “debating” about?

A normal human sexual act is an act of the kind that can result in initiating new human life.
Such acts between man and woman have resulted in the continuing survival of our race.
Our culture will, obviously, only be sustainable if we esteem and reverence such intimacies within the context of loyal heterosexual families.
People unable or unwilling to live in accord with this pattern can, perhaps, find other ways to contribute to the common good.
If they do, they certainly do not merit hostile treatment.
However, their status is, by definition, less than ideal.
“Marriage” – that which publicly solemnises willing cooperation with biological and social realities — is not for them.
