ADELAIDE? RICHMOND? DOES IT MATTER: are we over-sported to the point of brain-damage?

If a community spends a full day not working because the next day 40 or 50 men will be pushing, shoving and brawling for possession of a ball at an oval somewhere….
What does it say about that community’s common-sense level?
Obviously, sport isn’t altogether a bad thing – at least in theory.
But in practice…?
Young children are born knowing nothing.
Are we teaching them by example that free time is best devoted primarily to sport?
Or, even worse, to sitting on our bottoms looking at sport?
Might we do better to spend at least part of such time on our knees – asking God to show us what on earth we are here on earth for?
Many families find Sundays an opportunity to do that.
Something to think about.
