RELGIOUS FREEDOM IN AUSTRALIA: Turnbull-style, Brennan-style — when, if ever…?

by Arnold Jago in Australia, Faith, Family, Justice, Modern Church

Legislation protecting religious freedom in Australia….
Will it ever happen?
Mr. Turnbull says it won’t be happening at least until into the new year.
Then an “expert panel”, chaired by Mr. Philip Ruddock, will come up with a report – but not before March 2018.
The panel’s token-alleged-Catholic-spokesperson, is to be Father Frank Brennan.
Yes, Fr. Brennan, who publicly distanced himself from Catholic and Judaeo-Christian teaching on marriage, saying how he voted Yes for same-sex marriage, because…wait for it….
Because, he says, in view of the numbers of children already being raised in households headed by homosexual couples “we’ve got to factor that into the common-good argument….”
I suppose he must have said it.
I’ve heard no evidence of him denying having said it.

RE “SAME-SEX” OR “MULTI-GENDER” MARRIAGE: is Mr. Dean Smith and accompilces pulling our leg?

by Arnold Jago in Abortion, Australia, Common Sense, Family, Lifestyle, Media, Politics

The “Marriage Amendment Bill” proposed by Dean Smith MP is about whether any two Australians may marry “regardless of their sex or gender”.
Some politicians previously posing as conservatives apparently intend voting for the amendment.
Like Nationals MP for Mallee, Andrew Broad, saying his vote will “follow the national result”. (The Australian, November 16, page 8)
Does he mean the recent plebiscite on marriage by “same-sex couples”?
But “same-sex couples” doesn’t mean the same as “regardless of gender”….
Gender-ideology is a new world of imagined multiple gender-identities – “fluid”, “non-binary” etc. – promoted by cultic indoctrinators populating our schools, media etc.
MP’s can’t “follow the national vote”. There has been no national vote – not about what D. Smith and supporters are promoting.
If the Nationals weaken on this, supporters may drop them and look elsewhere for genuine conservatives.
Perhaps the Shooters Party, Senator Bernardi’s Conservatives — or somebody else?

TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE NOW VOTED OFF MAP: what price “religious freedom”?

by Arnold Jago in Australia, Family, Justice, Lifestyle, Modern Church, Politics

Now that the marriage plebiscite has resulted in a Yes vote, will people committed to an opposite belief be sacked, taken to court etc?
Or will there be legislated religious “freedoms” and “exemptions”?
The question is hardly relevant.
Jesus told the first 12 disciples that they must “take up their cross daily”.
Jesus himself having been crucified for his teachings and life, current Church leaders demanding that the government permit them “free speech” etc., would appear to have missed the point.
God has given us – and demands of us — free speech.
It makes no difference what anybody else chooses to give or not give.
Serious Judaeo-Christians will not and cannot “integrate” into a same-sex-marriage tolerating society.

SAME SEX “MARRIAGE”: a lapse in brain function?

by Arnold Jago in Australia, Common Sense, Family, Lifestyle, Truth

Using one’s reason or common-sense rules out calling a same-sex relationship “marriage”.
Doesn’t everybody know that the word “marriage” derives from the French word for mother – which is “mere”.
(and the word “matrimony” comes from the Latin word for mother – which is “mater”).
Marriage has, from the beginning, been a word describing a state which, of its nature, can lead naturally to mother-hood.
To invent a term called “same sex marriage” is a nonsense – an un-reasonable contradiction in terms.
Whatever two women or two men do in their private lives is their business — but it cannot reasonably be described as marriage.

AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS: on what are they based? on what should they be based?

by Arnold Jago in Australia, Common Sense, Education, Faith, God, Multiculturalism, Persecution, Truth, Youth

Some people want to take away the freedom of so-called “faith-based” schools to teach traditional understandings about sex, marriage and morals.
How about that?
For a start, the term “faith-based” is a distraction.
Anybody using their reason can see that God is real — and that there’s a natural moral law built into the universe.
Faith isn’t actually the basis of teaching true religion.
Faith comes later, after reason.
Schools seeking to teach true religion might, perhaps, more logically be called “reason-based”.
It’s government schools, with their cult-like dogmas of fundamentalist gender-theory, which fail the reason test.
Perhaps they might, in all honesty, call themselves “superstition-based”.

SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES: still in the too-hard basket?

by Arnold Jago in Australia, Health, Lifestyle

Gonorrhoea infections increased 60 per cent in Australia in the last five years.
According to ABC online, 6 November, “no-one really knows why”.
And Syphilis increased 200 per cent in some northern Australian communities. Prof Ward from SA’s Health and Medical Research Institute says, “a major awareness campaign” is underway.
Awareness of what?
Condoms?
But condoms seem not very on-turning — who prefers washing their feet with their socks on?
What else is there?
How about chastity — no sex until you marry and then only with the person you’ve married?
Whether we like it or not, the reason why people get sexually transmitted infections is still sexual promiscuity.
A prayer that some people use daily includes these words:
“May our inmost soul be pure, and the folly of impurity find in us no place . . . so that when day has gone, and night, as God planned, has returned, we may be found free from sin through our self-restraint….”
